“While the evocative power of similar works by Alberto Burri is unquestionably found in the “sheets”, in terms of both compositional evidence and a similar treatment of the material, what is absent from Scheggi’s work is all inclination towards the mammoth gigantism that sometimes defines these works by the Umbrian artist. He instead gave space to a desire for intimate composition (it is not by chance that the direct precedents of the “sheets” were the works on paper, almost a private diary of interior spaces), which resonates with his existential, literary and human reflections”.
