ILARIA BIGNOTTI

Born in Brescia in January 1979, Ilaria Bignotti is PhD in Theories and History of the Arts and Scientific Curator of Artist's Archives and Estates; she is also an independent curator and art critic.  

She began her study on Paolo Scheggi's life and work in 2006 and then deepened the systematization of Scheggi research in 2009, with the PhD aimed at the analysis of Paolo Scheggi's artistic path and concluded in 2013 with the thesis entitled: "Paolo Scheggi and his journey through forms. From visuality to architecture, from theatrical scenery to political language". Since 2013 she has been working in the Paolo Scheggi Archive, first as organizing Secretary, then as Scientific Curator.

She is on the critical committee of ArteJeans a project aimed at contemporary arts for the creation of a Jeans Museum-Archive in Genoa. She is in the Scientific Committee of MoRE Museum a museum of refused and unrealised art projects.

She is Specialist in contemporary art history for the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries of the new DeAgostini Scuola publishing project "Dell'Arte" for secondary schools and universities, by Ernesto Luciano Francalanci. She is Visiting Professor and Lecturer on assignment at Italian and international universities, such as, in Italy: AitArt-Associazione Italiana Archivi d'Artista, Milan-Rome; 24Ore Business School, Milan; Università Cattolica, Brescia and Milan; Accademia Cattolica, Brescia; Museo d'Impresa CUBO-Condividere Cultura, Bologna; abroad: ZERO Foundation, Düsseldorf; Beijing Minsheng Art Museum, Beijing; Shanghai University of Political Sciences and Law.

Since 2003 she has conceived, organised and curated international exhibition projects, also working for extended periods and continuously with museums, institutions and foundations,including: Abroad: Richter Collection and Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb; Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art, London; Shenzhen Biennale, Shenzhen; Beijing Minsheng Art Museum, Beijing; MoCA-Museum of Contemporary Art, London. In Italy: MAC-Museo d'Arte Contemporanea, Lissone; Villa Croce, Genova; Museo d'Impresa CUBO Condividere Cultura, Bologna; Centro per l'arte contemporanea "Luigi Pecci", Prato; Centro Internazionale d'arte e di cultura di Palazzo Te, Mantova; Museo d'Arte della Città "Santa Giulia", Brescia; Mo.Ca.-Centro per le Nuove Culture, Brescia; Galleria d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea "Palazzo Forti", Verona.

Most of the exhibition projects she has curated are based on careful historical reconstruction and cultural dissemination of the artists she has followed and in collaboration with the scientifically directed Archives. Since 2003, he has published over a hundred books, including modern and contemporary art catalogues on the occasion of the exhibitions he has curated, and has written several essays and contributions in scientific monographs and catalogues raisonnés.
